You Wouldn’t Believe What This Mom Tried To Smuggle at the Airport

In an attempt to smuggle her two-month-old son out of the Philippines, a single mom from Papua New Guinea hid her baby inside her backpack while at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Monday, March 16.

The sleeping baby was discovered by airport personnel after the bag was put through the airport scanner.

Airport authorities identified the mother as Jenifer Pavolaurea, a nursing student.

According to Vicente L Guerzon Jr, Manila International Airport Authority’s assistant general manager for security and emergency services, Pavolaurea was initially interrogated by immigration officers for being an overstaying alien in the country prior to the baby’s discovery in the backpack.

Pavolaurea, who is bound for Port Moresby, admitted that she wasn’t able to secure all the necessary documentation and clearance for her son to leave the country.

Fortunately, Pavolaurea was allowed to depart for Papua New Guinea with her son. No charges were filed against the mother, but she was turned over to John Frederick Camarines, as reported by ABS-CBN News.
