Why Successful People Wear The Same Clothes Everyday

What do US President Barack Obama, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs and physicist Albert Einstein have in common?

Aside from the fact that they have reached an entirely different level of success, these people have the same fashion sense. And I don’t mean boring.

As it appears to be, they wear almost the same clothes everyday to avoid decision fatigue.

When a person’s productivity is compromised due to mental exhaustion from making unimportant decisions, such as choosing what to wear in the morning, he or she is said to be suffering from decision fatigue.

This principle does make sense as we really become less efficient at work when we sweat over small stuff.

Now imagine how much time President Obama will waste if he has to think of a suit to wear everyday. How many crucial decisions will be left hanging to give way for trivial matters such as his wardrobe?

The message is clear. Simplicity can be a key to success. By spending less time on petty things and focusing more on what’s important in life, you become more productive.

Take a look at these successful people’s lack of fashion sense.

“You’ll see I wear only gray or blue suits. I’m trying to pare down decisions. I don’t want to make decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.”
